I liked Victor, but then I found out everyone else liked Victor and my inner hipster wouldn’t allow it.

Lmao imagine me, picking up Reina and thinking “Wow this will be such a unique pick, I think everybody will be salty she replaced Heihachi and nobody will play her. She’s such fun, I’ll be trailblazer for her online!”

And then I saw the usage charts.

If I’m right in remembering, Dragunov overtook her, but she’s still second lmao. Don’t even care though, she’s a greatly designed playstyle and is itching my scratch I have for hyper stylized Shotokan/Taido karate after Lidia stole my heart in Tekken 7.

Surprised Jun isn’t higher, thought people would’ve been right in there.

Idk about you but I’m 50/50 with her. Her playstyle just isn’t that appealing, things feel satisfying, but only on a bit of a base level.

Unless you were talking about people simping for her, then I agree lmao.

Signs of Lidia, Fahk and Marduk were datamined so you might be in luck Jass, but with the monkey’s paw that we have to deal with Marduk’s tackle again.

Lmao yeah I saw that. Not bad, but not an ideal season pass 1. I can imagine Marduk being a fucking nightmare with low+tackles+Heat too.

Yoshi is in that perfect off-center spot where he’s just unpopular enough where I feel special but he’s actually like…good.

Mind you I don’t think this chart will hold for long as players climb up the ranks and the gimmicks lose their effectiveness. You can only be hit by Victor’s d2 mixup for so long before you learn to crouch, or Reina’s tick grab.

King especially will be relegated to either a scrub crusher in lower ranks or a hardcore dedicated character in the upper once people start breaking grabs more and learning his gameplan.

Jin is rather surprising, though. I know heat makes electrics a bit easier & everyone wants to be THE electric guy but he’s still quite difficult in relative comparison to some others in the cast. Requires some pretty good footsies and space control to be effective against a somewhat competent opponent.

As I said above during release week, T8 is the first time where Yoshi feels (personally) really fun to me to play, and move execution feels satisfying.

For that reason, I’m praying later seasons usher back in some of the more obscure playstyles of Tekken like Lei and Wang. I would love to see how Wang (or a spirital successor to him) plays sprinting in after Heat and has a focus on damage dealing and attack.

I’ve been seeing a lot more Juns recently. She’s absolutely busted.

Being able to get a 60+ wall carry with a 12f grab is pretty ridiculous. I know throw breaks get good etc etc but considering she already has a lot of mix options, insane health recovery and quite a few gimmicks she’s basically a casino at this point.

My girl is back and badder than ever. SHOULD have been base game but it’s still gonna pull me back in to play.
