You know, around Thanksgiving last year i replayed all of the Tanker chapter of mgs2 SOL (not sub) on a ps2. these new sony tv’s do such a good job upscaling and honestly there is a charm to playing games like this sometimes. if your ps3 is still hooked up though do yourself a favor and just find the hd version though. if your fat ps3 60gig still works you can download a virtual save off gamefaqs(lol) with all the unlocks too.
just and FYI you can STILL download all the online camos in the game. idk if it’s sorcery or if it’s just on the disc somewhere but it’s stil out there!

Wow GameFAQs! I think the right move is tracking down a copy of the HD version.
No way. I forgot all about the extra camouflage patterns.
Opps, guess i didnt make it clear. If your fat ps3 works you can play the ps2 game if you have the diac but juat download a save with everything unlocked

My FAT 60GB died a long time ago. Sold it to some Gamestop Neckbeard for $150 since it was the model that could play PS2. I have a slim PS2 that works just fine, likely going to play it on that. I miss that big bastard.

Yah, that big bastard is beautiful tbh, wild to think that thing is from 2006 now.
Anyone been thinking about jumping back into these games since russia has emerged as a global enemy once again?
I started playing MGS2 again and watching some war movies because of the recent events. Nothing gung ho about it though. I’d thought we were past of conflicts like this in Europe.

Not because of Russia lol but I do wanna see how I enjoy MGS3 more or less now. But I think it would just make me want a remake in the FOX Engine, which is essentially impossible now.
mgs3 is so unwieldy to me while 2 plays like butter. i think mgs3 would work better as a fixed cam game with the soliton from mgs1-2

I’ve always preferred MGS3’s fixed camera over Subsistence’s 360 one. Had a long discussion with a friend about fixed cameras being an important tool for devs that’re used less and less because of players hating restrictions.

yeah, theres no reason every game ever has to be 3d camera
WHile i can agree this game’s was crafted with Static camera angles in mind. it didn’t stop me as a teen from replaying that game over and over until subsistence. the long sight lines do make this game easier but also,to me, it also breathe new life into this game. It’s not how it was envisioned but it definitely made the game feel more life like and less “gamey” if that makes sense. MGS1 and 2 had vision cones so you always had that information presented to you. then again one can argue that’s the whole point of mgs3 was to make a more difficult game.
In the end, i switch abck to bird’s eye now and then, especially the SHAGOHAD chase scene but i mostly keep it over the shoulder.
Hello all so i just start to play mgs3 i finish the first mission but is there a some tips, tricks, secrets ? i can get for this game playing from ps3 HD collection

Hi, and welcome!
If this is your first play of MGS3 ever I would just chill and enjoy the story first.
Then, off course there are different ways to play and different methods to counter bosses.

Make sure to change your camo to match the environments you’re in, and just play around and have fun! You don’t really have to worry about locking yourself out of any content or anything like that. Just experiment with the tools given to you and enjoy the zany experience MGS3 is!

thank you @DirtyDuck so far i enjoy the story and the gameplay and how you can heal yourself ingame
Ration, instant noodles, calorie mate. You’ll find those in buildings mostly. Then, shooting fruits (shoot them from trees), killing animals. Also hornet’s nests.
Careful not to eat rotten food. You’ll notice it’s rotten in your inventory when it has a fly on it. Also careful with poisonous animals and some mushrooms.

You can only shoot it. There are 64 if I’m not mistaking… but if you’re going for the trophy I recommend doing it on another playthrough.

If you’re going for the Infite ammo face paint. you can bypass all of that by capturing a legendary Snake when returning to a certain boss area. A the others have said though you should leave all that stuff for a 2ns playthrough, looking for all the mgs secrets will extend your playtime probably 3x that it should for a first time!
