What games are you looking forward to?

The airport level, AKA “Home of the Cocaine Robot”, is the single hardest gaming experience I have in memory. It doesn’t seem to matter what you do; memorize the pattern of the waves of enemies, you die, go crazy and shoot everything in sight, you die, play it smart by dodging and avoiding the little blue balls of death, you die. Frustrating. Impossible. Addicting. I feel like a battered spouse, coming back for more and more punishment.

Square Enix have got a job on their hands trying to market FF16, when it feels like all anybody cares about right now is FF7R part 2

You mean this prick?

Him and everything after him is a nightmare. When I played it as a kid with my dad, neither of us could get past him. I can now but the path between him and the airport final boss is absolute hell. My strategy with that final run is stay at the top of the screen so those cylinders can’t hit me and just try to dodge the platforms that shoot at me, using a vulcan or spreader to destroy ships. I’ve had most of my lives going into that place (like I’d used one continue) and still ran out of lives. Funny since the airport boss isn’t super difficult.

The spaceship is also difficult, but nothing eats through my lives like Earth’s final boss. Schwarzgeist just kills me every time. Beating him without dying is impossible.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. I can’t believe I forgot about this game for however long, I’m not going to get it straight away as I lack a PS5 But damn I’m really excited to eventually play this!

The simultaneous streaming and loading of different dimensions is really exciting and something I fucking pray Square realise they can utilise with the PS5 and make a Soul Reaver title for PS5.

Oh, jeez. The space section took me completely by surprise the first time. I thought the game was over once the text was scrolling. Very trippy section, too.

Schwarzgeist… Imagine my shock at seeing it again - in Kingdom Hearts III:

Yeah… Evil satellite of doom; “Black Ghost”. The trick to him is very fast shots to the neck section. Gives you about 50/50 chance of victory within a thirty seconds. Ever fight that little jellyfish thing he’ll shoot out? Ugh…

Hyperion is frustration incarnate. Defeatable, but you’ll earn it.

No I’ve never been able to get the jellyfish.

Nice too see him in HD graphics. He has a cool theme too. Shame Square doesn’t really use Einhänder for much.

Hyperion is hard too, though I think Black Ghost is more so. :joy:

I think the planes from Einhander were in World of Final Fantasy.

Ooooo there’s a bunch. First there’s Ao No Kiseki/Legend of Heroes Trails Series 5th game that is getting a in-depth fan translation release this month on PC.

I usually disappear for a few weeks to a month to beat one of those games.

Then there’s always the next Tekken, Soulcalibur, or King of Fighters game for me to play non-stop for a few weeks on launch.

Eiyuden Chronicles is a little far away but it was one of the only games I kickstarted and have been looking forward to ever since. Every update they post is a joy. It’s from the original devs of the Suikoden series.

Suikoden like many of Konami’s IPs has been dead for years so for those people to kickstart a spiritual successor was like a dream come true. 2023 can’t come soon enough!

Oh God yeah, I’m really looking forward to the next KOF. I play a tonne of Tekken 7 and aside from some skimping on the single player modes, it’s one of the best iterations yet.

I know this game has been out for quite a while but I’m waiting for the next Gen patch for Cyberpunk 2077. I figure by the time all the dust settles this game will actually been in a much better place for the cyberpunk experience i crave.

Announced today, “Lost Judgment”, a sequel to 2019’s “Judgment” by Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, the same guys behind the Yakuza series.

Consider me ONBOARD

I still need to play Judgement. Actually was looking at it just yesterday weirdly enough.

This is HYPE. I’m excited to get to Judgement eventually but also thought it would be a one off spin off with no follow up.

I love how much Ryo Ga Gotoku studio is just completely showing up the Shenmue devs these days and really schooling them on so much of what made Shenmue a standard. Exciting.

There is literally soooooo much games within the “yakuza” universer i’m starting to feel overwhelmed by the wave! how am i ever gonna get my head above water!

Just drop everything you’re doing and Yakuza it up 24 hours a day. Work? Don’t need it. Family? Don’t need it. Food? Don’t need it. Hygiene? Definitely don’t need that.
