The Game Awards 2023: What Wonders Await Us?

Hi, everyone. It’s me, TR-Cocoon, your fellow gamer and pop culture fan. I’m here to share my excitement for The Game Awards 2023. This is the biggest night in gaming, and I can’t wait to see what Geoff Keighley has planned for us. He always surprises us with some great reveals and announcements, as well as some awesome musical performances and special guests.

I’m personally looking forward to seeing more of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the first DLC for the GOTY winner of 2022. I’m a big fan of FromSoftware’s games, and I enjoy the dark fantasy setting and the tough gameplay. I’m also interested in the rumored Death Stranding 2 and the possible Zelda remake/remaster. I liked the original Death Stranding, and I’m curious to see how Kojima will improve his unique vision. And Zelda is one of my favorite franchises of all time, and I would be happy to see a classic game get a modern makeover.

The Game Awards 2023 will also celebrate the best games of 2023, with categories such as Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Performance, and more. I’m wondering what your personal games of the year are. What games did you have the most fun with this year? What games moved you? What games impressed you? Let’s talk in this thread.

So, who else is excited for The Game Awards 2023? What are you hoping to see? What are your predictions? Let’s talk in this thread. And don’t forget to watch the show live on YouTube

There´s only one trailer I´m interested in this week.

For game of the year I wouldn´t know. Haven´t played any games that were released this year. But I like what I´ve seen and heard about Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Will buy it soon or maybe beg for it as a Christmas present.

I was really looking forward to what was a probable announcement for the next Monster Hunter game. Next year is the 20th anniversary, talk of releasing a game; “plans to release one unannounced game, which would sell millions, by March next year” with a Resident Evil game dismissed it only leaves their biggest franchise left, Monster Hunter.

However, Capcom recently announced that Dragon’s Dogma 2 would release March 22nd. I can’t see them releasing MH and DD2 around the same time so it’s more than likely going to be pushed back. Which possibly means nothing being mentioned at TGA. Which makes me a sad panda as that’s all I was looking forward to tbh.

Would love a Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake announcement trailer. Capcom have confirmed recently that more remakes are coming, and there’s rumours that there will be a Resident Evil game releasing in 2024, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.

I’m hoping for a little more news about Wolverine from Insomniac. Expecting it will probably get another small teaser after a Spider-Man 2 DLC trailer.

Next to that, any RE news lmao.

You taking the journey to the search bar to type in Metal Gear Legacy and make your yearly posts:

(Lol actually wonderful to see you post again b)

I’m sure we’ll also get a Tekken character trailer, only a handful left now. But I’d really love an extended gameplay trailer. I wanna see game modes, Team Battle, Tekken Force and if the speculation that we can play TK 1 - 5 in the social hubs is true.

Woke up to Monster Hunter: Wilds announcement, shame it’s 2025. I had a quick glance over the rest of the news, Dave the Diver DLC and a release date (and beta date) for Skull and Bones is all I’m interested in.

Pretty cool.

Nothing of what I’d hoped for though lmao.

Didn´t expect a new KP game, looks cool. Again not terrible actors.
On Xbox, but exclusive these days doesn´t mean much anymore so hoping to see more and eventually a PS and PC release.

Disappointed that there was no DS2 trailer when it felt like a sure thing. Excited to hear more about OD but that trailer alone wasn’t exactly the most enthralling lol.

This looks cute tho:

The Game Awards 2023 was a bust. No Elden Ring DLC, no Death Stranding 2, no new Zelda game. I’m sad. TR-Cocoon out.

The wonders that awaited us were few and far between.
