I feeel like ive mentioned it before but same. up until that point i was just playing arcade games, metal slug, street fighter, Raw is war, racing games etc. MGS1 opened my eyes to storytelling in video games.
I remember during high school my teacher made us do some sort of report on the media we liked. i wrote about the tanker chapter of mgs2, the motivations of Gurlocivitch and his men, ocelot being a traitor, cover up by the us government. yadda yadda. home dude stopped me before i left class and asked me where it was from, kinda excitingly. Imagine his face when I told him it was a video game, bro looked like i just shot the pope infront of him.
Yeah video games are art and ESPECIALLY mgs2!

Haha! Excellent story. My old teachers were all the same. About video games in general.
How on earth could videogames tell great stories and even educate kids.

Well I mean when they were going to school, video games rarely had stories. and to be fair until MGS2 goes completely bat shit, the set up is very intriguing. i think most folks of tom clancy stories would feel right at home, up until dead cell lol

MGS1 wasn’t the first game I played on the PlayStation, or even a game that I put that much time into, but it’s probably the one I remember the most. Whenever people are asked this question they normally reply by saying the Psycho Mantis fight or the car chase were their best moments, and they were brilliant of course, but my favourite moment is the codex convservations and the story twists. When Master Miller (spolier alert) revealed that he was Liquid, I think that moment stands out for me the most, and the conspiracy that surrounds Naomi for a large part of the story. While I love MSG1, I don’t think it was the best in the series, I think that title goes to either MGS2 or MGS3, which for me at least, had a more compelling story.
On a side-note, does anyone here know what happened to Tamashi_7? Is he on this site under another name? Just curious.

AFAIK he peaced out way back in the MGSF days. I don’t think he’s been around for a minute but there are also large areas of my recollection from back then missing. I seem to remember him not being a fan of me personally for some reason.
Welcome back Nathan!
