You´re just getting old, Nathan. Would you like a decaf with that cardgame?

God movement in AC1, 2 and Revelations is just phenomenal already but to add in a bunch of multi-button maps to make it possible to do vaults, flips, tricks etc. is such a sick idea. Been thinking a lot recently tbh about how I’d love a Parkour game with tricks and movement similar to a blend of AC and THPS.

Making my way through the DMC HD collection. more and more as time goes on I realize i didnt lose interest in gaming really, games just changed. i am eating up every minute of dmc1 amd 3. i got the ps5 version of 5 sitting here . cant wait to sink my teeth into that. DMC3 is absolutely over the top and challenging in just the right ways.

Yeah I’ve got AC!D on my Go that I’ve been meaning to get around to trying again. I loved Chain of Memories (did you play GBA or Re:?) and I’ve always been on board with the concept of MGA. Cool spinoff to exist imo. I recently found out about the Solid Eye Tobidacid included with MGA2 that was a cardboard peripheral to let you watch 3D footage on your PSP. The footage was either MGS3 cutscenes or Japanese women existing in various levels of clothed. Killer app for the time, I’m sure…Obviously in a post 3DS world this isn’t impressive but I do miss shit like this. I thought I owned AC!D² when I was younger but I don’t remember this so I guess not. I’ve been looking for a copy with the Solid Eye still with it…despite not currently owning a PSP it would work with since my childhood slim was fucked last time I checked lmao

In my memory I thought I read somewhere that Ken Levine said he was going to make a card based BioShock spinoff for the Vita. Can’t find anything about it now, only him saying turn based like FF Tactics so I must have imagined it. Still, smaller, odder uses of IPs like that on the Vita would have really helped the system compared to a lot of what Sony bothered to get on it. Sad tale the way that console was handled.

I remember reading about this around a year or two after the Vita came out - this, right?

I long for the days where we would get cheap small spin-off games which had a lot of flair and flavour to them.

I’ve been binging videos of DMC5 lately, haven’t played it yet but Vergil memes keep appearing leading me down that rabbit hole. Fucking love DMC and 3. What’s the deal with 4, what’s the easiest way to play it these days?

I played CoM on the HD Collection but I loved it. Challenging (especially fucking Larxene and Marluxia) but I loved that. Did detest the repeated levels from KH but the bosses made up for it.

I actually have an Ac!d 2 copy with 3D glasses included! Not sure if it’s the exact same as those though. I made sure I searched out a complete copy, curious to see how it works whenever I get to it. Now that you mention it it’s criminal I’m still yet to get into FF Tactics.

ps4 special edition, but honestly i dont think 4 is worth the time. Capsom cheaped put and you essentially play the same levels and bosses twice. People forget but Capcom was pretty hated arpund 2008, they rushed the game. Personally im just gonna watch a summary of 4 then jump into 5. i forced myself to beat dmc2 and that was offensively boring. DMC3 though, still king…so far anyway.

Yeah DMC2 was horrid. So skip DMC4 then? DMC5 is far easier for me to get right now so I can do that.

from what i hear, you can just watch the summary or cutscenes. the gameplay is fun but you play the same levels twice and same bosses 4 times, ish. id skip it and just get to the new classic

Me anytime I sit down to play an old game. I played Spec Ops The Line again earlier in the year and it just reminded me of how boring games are these days. I guess that’s just the general trend with corporations homogenizing everything across all facets of media. Mainstream film, games, music, it’s all slop. I just wanna go back to PS1 days man, lazy saturdays strung out on really good game, staring at the tube, no wifi, no ethernet, no PS+…

Feels like there’s too much noise anymore, gets in the way of gaming.

I definitely get more easily distracted these days than I used to. And then I wonder why it’s taking me an eternity for finish a simple 15 hour game.

 I´ve actually been buying PS2 games again lately. This week I got a clear black and clear emerald og PS1 controller, for when I eventually get another PS1.
More and more companies ask for our data. I fear that even having fysical games soon will no longer be enough and you´ll need a connection for everything.

It’s the Subscriptification of everything.

Also, I do believe the potential to lose access to “bought” digital media isn’t a bug it’s a feature working as intended.

Not just for gaming but movies too,im doing my best to fill out my library with physicals of media I may want to see or play again. what i cant get physicals of ill try to acquire it though the high seas and dump it on an ssd thumb drive. i will never forget that sony hack back in 2011/2012(?) we couldnt even play our games for like 2 weeks. the saving grace of pc is emulators and cracks to get around this.

tldr, keep it physical!

Sick, I’ve still got the clear black PS2 controller.

That’s the day I’m out. I just play the classics for the rest of time.

I did something really boneheaded today with my ps5 controller. It was getting a Lil squeaky and stiff, no biggy, I played with fire before with this same issue, added a drop of wd40 on one trigger’s springs like 6 months ago. Feeling sure of myself I did the same to the other side. Started up DMC5 to test the controller and L2 is DEAD! Panicing now I check the regular consumer sites and was blown away how much ps5 controllers go for. At this point I’m in “fuck it” mode, crack the controller open fiddle around a bit, wiping excess wd40,still nothing. Decided I’ll disassemble the trigger assemble since I’m damned at this point. pulled out the pins, buttons, screws. Noticed there seemed to be some wd40 that seeped it’s way under that sort or rubberised button contact. wiped it a Lil, started getting weak responses similar to tapping the button lightly. grabbed a paper towel and went to town drying the rubberized/silicone thing and the part it makes contact with. IT’S ALIVE AGAIN! Almost had to spend the equivalent of a brand new game. Dodged a bullet and I’ve now been taught a valuable lesson lol.

TLDR; I tried to be a bonehead ghetto ass electrician on a controller and I almost got what I frickin’ deserved.

Edit: forgot to mention, I definitely fixed the stiffness and squeaking lol

So what you’re saying is I need to grab my WD40 and spray the fuck out of my controllers

As I’m recovering from surgery I’m gonna finally whip out the PS2 and PS3 again. Probably not a permanent setup as I still haven’t got the space for them. But I’ll be playing MGS and MGS2 on PS2 and Final Fantasy XIII on the PS3; stopped right before we moved and that was end of May.

I’ve been scheming on having my old systems a permanent fixture somewhere in my house, not sure where yet but I want to get a tube television to play them on too. Something about the flat screens just doesn’t do the games justice, you know?
